Inter-club Birkenhead Home April 14th

For Sunday's home game against Birkenhead, we ended up with 23 players (thanks Tara for stepping in at the last minute) but they came with 27 making a grand total of 50 players on the day, a record turnout!

Business House Pool League

After the Birkenhead game we gathered all players, most new and some old, who are interested to play BHP but didn't have a team.

There are now two new teams in the BHP Div B, named Mahu and Rangi.

We have also had a third new team joining the league, the Cue Crew from Snells Beach.

Curry League & Closing Tournament

The curry league finished on the 8th April and it was hugely popular, with many positive comments about the Scotch doubles format and the generally supportive and fun atmosphere of the league.

On behalf of the players a BIG THANK YOU to Dave for his hard work in getting these tournaments up and running, and being enjoyable

Please put your names down if you would like to play.

WOMENS SECTION

Hi Members,
As we have Easter prior to our meeting this coming Tuesday, we have had a cancellation from our speaker.

We have decided we will have a recollection of old Recipe Books. I have 2 dated 1935 and 1946 and found them so interesting. Not only do they give recipes but on how to raise your children to handy hints and much more, some are quite hilarious.

So if you have any, we would love for you to bring them along.  Ladies Smocks selling for 8 shillings and sixpence. 8/6d

LAST POST - TONY (MAKO) SNOWDEN

I am extremely sorry to hear of Marco’s passing. He not only caused us many tense moments on the pool tables with his skills, but was an asset to the Warkworth and Districts RSA Executive re aligning our RSA rules with the RNZRSA rules.

Mako will be sadly missed and remembered for keeping us on our toes.

A memorial service will be held at the RSA and we will advise when the date is confirmed.

On behalf of the Executive Committee I extend our condolences to family and friends.

Bob Harrison
President

PURPLE POPPY DAY 24th FEBRUARY

Most people are unaware that as well as the traditional commemorative

red poppy there is also the purple poppy. It symbolises all animals who

have served and/or died during conflict. It is estimated that more than

8 million animals sacrificed their lives in World War I alone.

As a way to commemorate the animals that have served and those that

continue too, you can wear a purple poppy.

Let us remember these brave animals, their deeds, and their sacrifices.
